EU-Philippines FTA: Looking for Two Trade Experts (Ready to Be) Based in the Philippines

We're looking for two experts (one senior, one junior) with local knowledge to advise on aspects of relevance to a future FTA between the EU and the Philippines. Could be for you? Let us know! Expert 1: Senior expert/team-leader

The senior expert will have the overall responsibility for the coordination and management carrying out the assignments as described in these terms of reference, ensuring: overall guidance according to approved template for studies, respect of deadlines, quality, consistency and high-standards of outcomes. S/he will be familiar with the EU FTAs as well as the Philippines trade policy and FTAs.

Qualifications and skills: 

- Education at the level of Master's degree in law, economic or business

- C1 level in English both written and orally

General professional experience:

- At least 10 years of professional experience in the field of international trade, FTAs analysis, negotiation or implementation.

Specific professional experience: 
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working on trade policy related to the Philippines, including FTAs analysis, negotiation or implementation and market access issues
- Proven experience in leading and coordinating teams on at least 2 different assignments

 

Expert 2: Junior Expert 

The junior expert will ensure a strong network and up-to-date (daily) interaction with PH legislators and EU stakeholders. S/he will be analytical, communicative and having good networking skills to ensure getting up-to-date information and positions. S/he will be familiar with EU and Philippines' trade policy and provide first hand knowledge on potentially relevant bills and political positions of Congress and able to give brief summaries of initiatives in view of selecting studies.

Qualifications and skills: 

      - Education at the level of Master degree in law, economic, business or political studies

      - C1 level in English both written and orally 
       

      - Fluent in Tagalog

      General professional experience:

      - At least 3 years of professional experience, including working on policy making with the government or with Philippine legislators.

      Specific professional experience:
      - A minimum of 2 years' experience working in the field of international trade or related national legislation.

      Note that public servants and other staff of the public administration of the Philippines would not be allowed to be recruited due to possible conflict of interest.
