Hannes Schloemann, LL.M.

Hannes Schloemann is a seasoned trade lawyer and trade policy advisor. Apart from being a Director of WTI Advisors he is also a partner at MSBH Rechtsanwälte.

Hannes has 20 years of experience in advising, representing and training governments and non-governmental stakeholders on virtually all aspects of WTO law, regional and bilateral trade agreements, trade negotiations and national trade-related policy implementation. Hannes has a long track record of producing hands-on, client focused solutions, including those that require precision treaty or legislative drafting.

He is an experienced team leader and designer of trade related capacity building and advisory assistance across international trade regulation and policy. He advised several governments and groupings on WTO negotiations on services, agriculture and NAMA, advised several governments on trade policy formulation and reform, including specifically on services trade policy, reform and negotiations. Apart from trade in services he has recently provided specialist advice inter alia on rules of origin, TBT, taxation and non-discrimination, fisheries subsidies, export controls in multiple contexts including FTA negotiations, WTO accessions, disputes, trade policy design and drafdting, legislative reform and export strategies.

Hannes regularly teaches at academic institutions and has authored several studies and papers on trade in services, regionalism and climate change. Hannes holds an LLM from New York University and is a member of the Berlin and New York Bars. He speaks German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and some Arabic.
